Stormy’s story reveals what Trump was trying so hard to prevent from becoming public. I think that was superbly established.

And then misrepresented those payments as something else. And then strategized to do it all in way to try to help him win the election. She noticed and remembered the things and details of the room so well because she didn't want to be in the situation. It's a trauma/fear thing that is super common. Those details might be insignificant but you remember them because you want to take yourself out of the situation that you're fearful of.
We've all seen that side of DT before -in plain sight. Do we forget the way he chose to stalk behind Hillary at the debate, looming over her physically, using his size to attempt to intimidate a woman? The context was different, but the character of the man was the same.

The defense could have objected more, and the judge has said he was surprised that they didn't because he would have sustained the objections. They didn't object, but now they want to cry foul. That's not a strong basis for an appeal.

The whole case has stemmed from the encounter. Some detailed testimony about it is warranted, or even required. The purpose of putting her on the stand wss to prove that it happened. Without such testimony, prosecution's case would be incomplete, and the jury would be left puzzled.
Even if it did, the payment is the case, where the money came from, who made it, who was aware of the source.
No one has yet to prove anything wrong other than maybe a bookkeeping error.

The prosecutor asked the right questions. It was Stormy who provided graphic details. Mr Blanche could have jumped up and shouted OBJECTION YOUR HONOR, but he did not do so.
They clearly objected to that line of questioning in the details of the alleged incident at the very beginning pretrial before the jury came in the judge declined that's why they didn't object during the hearing the judge had already ruled.
If anything, and if her testimony is true, I think the jury would see just why someone would pay her to keep her mouth closed! If Biden or Obama would have been in the same position they would have done the same thing, so why single Trump out? Pure politics. That's why.

But he didn't approach her with an offer, using his middle-men, until just after the Access Hollywood tape came out in October 2016. Then they went to do damage control BEFORE the election in order to keep her quiet. Melania doesn't care what her husband does. It's in their pre-nup. She gets the title "Mrs. Trump the Third" along with a lot of cash and benefits, he does whatever he wants. That's their "deal".

Sounds to me as if the "extraneous" parts of Stormy's testimony went to Donald Trump's character. How is his character not relevant to this case? Regardless, if Trump is found guilty, the verdict will probably be overturned on appeal. That's how everything goes for him.

Cevalios made a good point, but Lisa Rubin hit the nail by showing the importance of Trump's intent to cover up the payment. Without the intent, there wouldn't be any reason for Trump to make the payments in the first place.

Trump's lawyers did not raise an objection immediately..... It was a game they played and lost.... The case will not be overturned. The dude needs to go back to law school. If the defense refuses to raise an objection when the judge clearly states he agrees that the testimony was out of hand but they didnt do their jobs... it was a ploy/game used to try to force a mistrail. Excellent points. It will be very difficult for Trump to appeal based on Stormy's testimony. Judge Merchan told Mr Merchan he was SURPRISED he DIDN'T object MORE. It's on the record.
@Lauren_1987 Trump's lawyers were objecting and they even won I think all but 1. Then all of a sudden they stopped objecting when the most damaging stuff started. It was a game. It was trying to abuse the court and laws. Trump's lawyers didn't pivot even after the judge agreed with them and put in the pot shot telling them she was hard to control. But his Defense didn't take the hint the judge handed them. In that she was hard to control. So it will never win on appeal. The judge was handing them a gift outside of his duties. They just wanted to play the games and lost.

Yes, her testimony always had the potential of presenting DJT in a deleterious manner, especially given his past pattern of behavior towards women; however, the benefit of hearing her complete testimony rather than narrowing it to a brief synopsis of the encounter would have created a gap in understanding the relevance of her testimony and how her intentions weren’t malicious or exploitative.
The potential for conflict is one of jurisprudence (process) over reality (context, which is messy and complicated).

If evidence proves some facet of the case, then it's allowed in even if does make the defendant look bad. We now know exactly why Trump wanted this story buried, so it goes to motive for the crimes alleged. If it were from McDougal, it wouldn't touch the crimes alleged. Daniels' testimony clearly is relevant and they can order to disregard anything that goes beyond. No one would ever get convicted if the defense can simply choose to get rid of the evidence that shows part of their client's guilty mindset. It may be tricky in certain aspects, but it's not rocket science.
